Executive Director Search: The Glenarden Housing Authority (GHA)

Opportunity and Role:

The Glenarden Housing Authority (GHA) is currently accepting applications for an Executive Director. The selected candidate will be accountable to the Board of Commissioners for planning and administering all GHA programs and functions on a weekly basis. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall agency performance as measured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other Federal, State and local governing entities. GHA has a small staff and owns and manages 60 PHA units. It has an annual budget of $650,000 and is a Standard Performer. This is a working position and duties include but are not limited to the day-to-day accounting and operational functions. The Executive Director will be responsible for implementing both the short-term operational priorities and the long-term vision of the agency. The selected candidate is expected to devote approximately 16-24 hours per week to the agency.

Qualifications:

• The selected candidate is expected to have Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field with five years of progressively responsible experience in management or administration. *The Board of Commissioners will determine any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

• The candidate must possess demonstrated experience and a working knowledge of the administration of HUD housing programs such as Low-Income Public Housing, Capital Fund Program and Development.

• Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate leadership skills, the ability to work with federal, state and local government, and excellent oral and written communications skills. GHA is in the process of redevelopment so any prior experience is a plus.
